Ingredients that go into the simple condensed milk bread recipe:
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon;
- Warm water – 1 can (use the same measurement as the can of condensed milk);
- Condensed milk – 1 can;
- Eggs – 4 units;
- Margarine for culinary use – 100 g (room temperature);
- Wheat flour – + or – 1 kg (to give the dough consistency);
- Fresh organic yeast tablets
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
- Let's start by putting the crumbs from the yeast tablets in a bowl and adding 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix everything until the yeast turns into a paste.
- Then, add the condensed milk with the warm water, stirring constantly.
- Then, add the eggs and margarine and mix them into the mixture using a spoon.
- Then add the wheat flour gradually, using your hands to mix it in.
- As soon as the dough reaches a smoother texture and stops sticking to your hands, stop adding the wheat flour.
- Now knead the dough for about 10 minutes. Then, cover it with a cloth and let it rest (in a non-ventilated environment) for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Once this is done, shape the bread dough into small pieces to your liking, which can be shaped like braids, rolls, mini-loaves, with or without filling and using (or not) the filling you want.
- Then transfer to the molds already greased with margarine and floured.
- After brushing with the beaten egg yolk, let it rise again and gain more volume. Then place it in the preheated oven to bake until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and pour over the bread a syrup that is prepared as follows:
- Bring 1/2 cup (tea) of water and 1 cup (tea) of sugar to a boil until it reaches a thread-like consistency.
Additional Information:
- Performance: It will depend on how you are going to shape the breads and the amount of dough you use.
- Fillings: has several options, such as candied fruits, raisins, ricotta, dulce de leche, guava paste, or just the syrup.
- The bread from the other day: If you have any leftovers, slice the bread and put it in the microwave, wrapped in paper towels, for just 30 seconds. This will keep it warm and soft, just like the day you made it.
Anyway, the simple condensed milk bread is ready to be tested and tasted.
It is great to serve with tea, coffee, chocolate or any other hot drink of your choice.
