That cornmeal bread, besides being tasty, it requires simple and easy-to-find ingredients. Our team's recipe uses fennel, but you can only use it if you want. Let's cut the crap and separate the ingredients for the recipe that you probably already have at home.

Ingredients you will need to make cornbread:
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons margarine
- 2 cups of fine cornmeal (250ml cup)
- 2 cups of wheat flour (250ml cup)
- 1 and ½ cups of refined sugar (250ml cup)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- anise to taste (optional)
- milk until it reaches the right consistency (approximately 60ml)
- beaten egg yolks (for brushing)
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
- Let's start the recipe in a bowl, mixing the fine cornmeal, wheat flour, refined sugar, baking powder and fennel (all dry ingredients). Then, add the eggs and margarine and make a crumble, kneading all these ingredients until it has a thick texture.
- Now, gradually add the milk until you get a homogeneous dough. Using a tablespoon, take the dough and shape it into balls.
- Place the ball on a baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal. Repeat the shaping process until all the dough is used up. It is also important to leave space between the balls of dough, as they will spread out on the baking sheet.
- At this point, the trick is to put the pan with the dough balls in the fridge for 4 minutes, so the margarine becomes firmer and stops the buns from spreading inside the pan.
- To finish, remove the pan from the refrigerator and brush each ball with beaten egg yolks. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for 40 minutes or until the cornbread is lightly golden.
- Then remove from the oven, wait for it to cool and serve immediately.
Additional Information: The tip Use Mimoso brand cornmeal, as it is very fine it makes the cornbread perfect and melts in your mouth.
We tested it with other types of corn flour, but the best result by far was this one with Mimoso. It is also important that the cornbread does not brown too much, as it can become quite hard.
