Eating a warm bread roll is a magical moment, and imagine bread served with all the flavor of a delicious pizza?

Today in Kitchen Manual we will reveal the recipe of pizza bread which is made with a very light dough, is juicy and is also easy to make.

The filling we are going to use is ham and mozzarella, ingredients that you probably have in your fridge. You can also make other filling options, like for a pizza.

Pizza Bread Recipe Ingredients:

For the Dough

  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 level tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 500g of wheat flour (approximately)
  • 15g fresh yeast or ½ packet dry yeast (5g)
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)

For the Filling:

  • 300g mozzarella
  • 200g ham
  • 2 seedless tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ sliced onion
  • oregano to taste       

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

  1. In a bowl, add the sugar and yeast. If you are using fresh yeast, dissolve it with the sugar using a fork until it forms a liquid, but if you are using dry yeast, you can skip this part.
  2. Add the warm milk, oil and salt and mix. Then, gradually add the wheat flour to form a dough with a very sticky texture.
  3. Then, sprinkle wheat flour on a clean surface, knead the dough until it is smooth and homogeneous, the ideal point is when it comes away from your hands, but is still a little moist, if necessary add more flour so the dough doesn't stick.
  4. Now make a ball with the dough and place it in a container sprinkled with wheat flour and cover with a clean cloth. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes in a warm place to gain volume (ideally it should double in size). You can put it in the microwave or in your oven when it is turned off.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangular shape using a rolling pin.
  6. Follow the following order of layers: first mozzarella, then tomato, onion, oregano, and finally ham. Leave the ends rolled up so that the filling does not overflow.
  7. Place the pizza bread, seam side down, on the greased and floured baking tray. Brush with beaten egg yolk and finish with oregano to taste.
  8. Again, let the bread rest, covered with a cloth, for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC until golden brown (approximately 35 minutes). Finally, remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
