Who would have thought that this bread would taste very similar to the traditional recipe? Check out the step-by-step recipe right now, which is very simple.
Ingredients for the Best Vegan Cheese Bread Recipe:
- 2 cups (tea) full of cassava or sweet potato (about 300g)
- 1/2 cup (tea) of sweet cassava starch (approximately 200g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup (tea) of water
- 5 tablespoons of oil
- 1 teaspoon salt or more if you prefer
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
- The first step is to cook the cassava (or sweet potato) until it is soft. Pay attention to the texture, it cannot be too soft (use a fork or knife to pierce it, if it goes through without difficulty it is ready);
- Next, drain the cassava and mash it immediately afterwards. It should be hot enough to make a puree. Set aside.
- In a bowl, add the sweet tapioca starch, sour tapioca starch, and baking powder, and mix everything together. In a saucepan, combine the water, oil, and salt, and bring to a boil over preheated heat (210ºC). Once boiling, remove from heat and pour the liquid into the tapioca starch mixture, incorporating everything well.
- Then add the puree and mix again to obtain a homogeneous dough. The point we want the dough to be very malleable;
- Next, shape the dough into medium-sized balls with your hands. Arrange the balls on a greased baking sheet. Bake in the oven for approximately 50 minutes, or until the rolls crack and are fully cooked. Now just serve and enjoy!
Additional Information: We chose cassava because the flavor is very similar to the original cheese bread. The dough may not reach the right consistency, and if this happens, gradually add the sweet manioc flour until it reaches a texture that does not stick to your hands. A very interesting tip is to add oregano or other dried herbs, to your taste.
