Ingredients for the slime-free okra recipe:

  • 1 cup of okra
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Garlic and onion to taste

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

  1. First, wash your okra well, dry it and then remove the ends. Then, chop it however you prefer, either into strips or cubes.
  2. Then, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil (you can also use oil or lard).
  3. Once the onion has a more transparent appearance, add the okra and finish sautéing.
  4. Leave it on the heat and don't stop stirring. It will only take a few minutes for the okra to start to turn a darker color.
  5. Now the slime from these okras will start to release, so add the salt and lemon juice (1/2) and mix them all together.
  6. Finally, leave the pan on low heat, stirring constantly. Keep sautéing until the slime disappears completely. Turn off the heat and it's ready.

  • Vinegar: Vinegar can replace lemon, but you don't need to sauté it. Just place the okra pieces in a pan with water and vinegar and let it boil for 6 to 8 minutes, after that just remove the water.
