Ingredients needed to make homemade guava paste:

  • Guavas (red) – 1 kg
  • Crystal sugar – 1 kg
  • Water – 60 ml (half an American glass)

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

  1. First of all, remove the ends of the guavas, then cut them in half and extract all the pulp, leaving some in a bowl (there is no need to peel them).
  2. Now divide the extracted pulp into smaller pieces and set aside. Blend the pulp in a blender with the water, blending for 3 minutes.
  3. Then strain, keeping only the juice, and place this liquid in a pan, adding the remaining guava, chopped with the sugar, without adding any more water.
  4. Then put it on high heat and stir it little by little until it starts to boil. As soon as it boils, reduce the heat, leaving it in the pan almost covered and, to prevent it from sticking, stir it a few times.
  5. As soon as the shells are cooked and they start to break apart, there is no need to leave them half covered. Just keep stirring and mashing with a spoon.
  6. As soon as the sweet reaches a creamy texture and starts to come away from the bottom of the pan, turn off the heat.
  7. Then line a mold, transferring the candy to it and wrapping it in plastic or greased it (do not use very thin plastic film).
  8. Finally, take the candy out of the fridge and spread it out well and wait for it to cool completely, then unmold it and cut it into the desired size.

Additional Information:

  • Accelerating revenue: If you have a mixer, when the guavas are falling apart on the heat, use this instrument inside the pan to speed up the process.
  • Cooking: Don't leave it for too long, so the candy doesn't harden.
