What is the ingredient?

Pork belly is a type of cut taken, of course, from the belly of the pig. It accompanies both meat and fat in the cut and ends up being a great combination for your dish.

It is a boneless cut, and despite being consumed in various cuisines such as Hispanic and Danish, it is a very popular cut in Asia.

One of the most popular ways to prepare pork belly is to slow-roast it, which results in tender, juicy meat with a layer of crispy skin.

It is a very versatile ingredient and can be found in dishes alone, or in feijoadas, stews and barbecues.

It is with pork belly that we can also make pancetta, which is a type of Italian bacon made from this ingredient.

To get the pancetta so loved by many, the pork belly must be cured and seasoned with salt, pepper and a few other ingredients.

Pancetta is widely used as an ingredient in pizza, in sauces, pasta and even risotto.

Slow Roasted Pork Belly Recipe

Now, let's learn how to make pork belly that is slow-roasted and has a delicious crispy skin. Discover the ingredients:

  • 1kg of pork belly;
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil;
  • 200g of coarse salt;
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar;
  • 1 dessert spoon of paprika;
  • 2 dessert spoons of salt;
  • 1 dessert spoon of black pepper;
  • 1 dessert spoon of nutmeg;
  • 1 dessert spoon of mustard powder.

Keep in mind that it will take some time to prepare this pork belly recipe.

To start, set aside a baking tray and place the meat inside, make holes all over the skin with a knife and rub olive oil over the entire piece.

Be sure to season the pork belly piece with paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, salt and mustard, spread it well so that it is very well seasoned.

Cover the piece and place it in the fridge for at least 10 hours, to marinate and for the seasoning to set into the meat.

In a baking dish, place aluminum foil on the bottom, place the piece on top of the aluminum and pour vinegar over it, placing a layer of coarse salt on top.

Once prepared, place in the oven at 200 degrees for at least 1 hour, then remove from the oven and remove the coarse salt, then place for another 20 minutes so that the skin becomes golden and very crispy.

Now that you know how to prepare this recipe, remember to plan it at least a day in advance, as it needs to spend a lot of time curing to make it the way we want it, juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
