But first… Where did the alfajor come from?

Alfajor is a very traditional sweet in Argentina, but its origins come from Arab cuisine. To be more exact, it appeared in Andalusia, in Spain, and its name was originally “Al Hasú”, which from Arabic means stuffed.

And its recipe hasn't changed much from how it used to be, the recipe consisted of two or three discs of gingerbread dough filled with dulce de leche or jelly.

Over time, the dessert gained popularity in several regions, and its fame in Latin countries began with Venezuela and Peru, when it was served to the Spanish armies.

When it arrived in Argentina, the sweet started to have its cookie dough, but also with the famous dulce de leche filling.

The cookie recipe is called Argentinian alfajor, which is also delicious.

In order for you to assemble the alfajor, you will need at least three biscuits, and it must be done as follows: biscuit, filling, biscuit, filling and another biscuit.
